Description
Description
The IBC Heater for 640L IBC Containers is a powerful and efficient heating solution designed to reduce the viscosity of liquids and semi-solid materials, making them easier to discharge, pump and process. Materials such as syrup, sugar, fats, oils, resin and adhesives can become highly viscous at room temperature, making them difficult to remove from an IBC and potentially resulting in product waste.
By applying controlled heat evenly around the container, the IBC heating jacket helps warm the contents and reduce their viscosity, allowing them to flow more freely. This can significantly reduce discharge times and minimise product waste, making the heater an effective solution for a wide range of industrial applications.
The heater features two independently adjustable digital thermostats, each with a temperature range of 0°C to 90°C. This dual-zone heating arrangement provides efficient and controlled heating across the container, while allowing the desired temperature to be maintained according to the characteristics of the stored product.
Manufactured from durable, lightweight materials, the heating jacket combines Teflon-coated polyester, polyester insulation and silicone heating wire. Adjustable quick-release buckles make the heater easy to fit and remove from a standard 640L IBC, while the flexible design allows it to conform closely to the container for effective heat transfer.
The IBC heater can also be used when transporting temperature-sensitive materials where maintaining a specific temperature or viscosity is important. For faster and more efficient heating, an IBC insulated lid, available separately, can be fitted to the top of the container to reduce heat loss.
The heater is supplied as standard with IP40 protection. An IP54 version is also available for environments where exposure to water spray or increased moisture is a consideration, including certain food and pharmaceutical production areas with regular wash-down requirements.

Suitable for Heating
The IBC heating jacket can be used with a wide range of industrial liquids and semi-solid materials, including:
- Water
- Oils
- Diesel fuel
- Resin
- Vaseline
- Wax, including lanolin (wool wax/wool grease)
- Fats
- Butter, including Ghee
- Glue and adhesives
- Syrups
- Sugar-based products
- Other compatible industrial liquids and viscous materials
Ideal for Temperature Maintenance
The IBC heating jacket can be used not only to warm cold or viscous materials but also to maintain the required temperature and viscosity during storage or transportation. This makes it particularly useful for products that become difficult to handle when allowed to cool.
The heating jacket can also be used alongside IBC heating cabinets or heating ovens, providing a convenient way to maintain the temperature of an individual container during transportation and handling.
Faster Heating with an Insulated Lid
For optimum heating performance, we recommend using the IBC Insulated Lid, available separately. Fitting an insulated lid to the top of the IBC helps reduce heat loss and can improve heating efficiency, particularly when higher temperatures are required.

Reference Heating Performance
The manufacturer's stated heating times of approximately 48 hours are based on a 1000L container filled with water, starting at 15°C. Performance is approximately 15°C to 50°C using 2 x 1000W heaters with an insulation lid, or 15°C to 70°C using 3 x 1000W heaters with an insulation lid.
Actual heating times will vary depending on container size, contents, starting temperature, ambient conditions and insulation.
